INTRODUCTION
"Fundamentals of Obstetrics" by Dr. Arshad Chohan, a Pakistan based author, is the best book of Obstetrics in Pakistan, that is being read throughout the country. It contains original text, and statistics that are applicable to Pakistan. No other book reaches upto the mark as far as the diseases, which are prevalent in Pakistan's women , are concerned.

Although there are few gynecology/ Obstetrics books available in Pakistan, most are unable to grasp subject comprehensively in the shortest possible time. Our students are able to understand the topic but are unable to list them effectively once asked to do so.
This book is written for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, keeping in view their special requirements and dire need of a comprehensive book on the subject of Obstetrics and gynecology. Topics have been very wisely selected and include those aspects which a postgraduate doctor encounters during clinical training. This book also meets the need of the time. It is time to explain to the world that Indo-Pak subcontinent in general and Pakistan in particular,have been different. Not only on the vast canvas of geopolitics, we have always had a different body response compared to the other races. This book fulfills this requirement as local incidences based on local studies are quoted.
I find this book as a prism reflecting light on Obstetrics / Gynecology , right from the basics to pathophysiology, treatment options and recent advances. I wish this book to be a long lasting guide and companion on the subject.

It is a wonderful book for postgraduate students. It explains every topic in a manner that we can apply directly clinically. Every topic is very concise and clinically oriented.
There are very few books who understand the readers. The book on Obstetrics by Dr. Arshad Chohan is one of those rare books that make the reader fully indulged int he topics. This book is clinically oriented and to me, it is a bedside book for the management of patients and getting through the exams.
I can bet this is one of the world's best written,composite and directing book of Obstetrics. I wonder if I would not have got this book, I would never had been able to develop the capacity for understanding what the Obs is......
The book is written in simple language, easy to understand. All problems which are common in Pakistan, are written in detail. This book is excellent at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

By reading these books, now i believe on Allama Iqbal's saying. When i was a new born in the field of Obs, books of Obs by Prof Dr. Arshad Chohan provided me guideline on each step. I read a renowned book in final year M.B;B.S and i was lost. I was having no concepts and there were a number of questions which were un-answered. Then my senior helped me out and advised me to read books of Dr. Arshad Chohan, and it solved every problem of mine. I am a 3rd year resident in Gynaecology and still i am getting benefit from these books. I am thankful to Prof. Dr. Arshad Chohan for writing such a helpful literature.
Beautifully described obstetrics in quite easy way helping medical students to get through exams, making practitioners master at practice. Describes every single necessary aspect of each obstetrical issue.

Book of Obstetrics by Dr. Arshad Chohan gives us complete understanding of Obstetrics and a very technical and logical connection between the two extreme worlds. This book tells us what is happening in our country and what should be the solution , management of obstetrical problems, keeping in view the new methodology.
Fundamentals of Obstetrics is a guideline for undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is simple and understandable, comprehensible and a highly reproducible book. He combined diamonds of alphabets and shaped them into outclass words. totally enlighten the reader's mind with thoughts that keep the reader up to date. It is a lifetime gift for whole medical community.
Best book of Obstetrics in Pakistan.
We as Pakistanis, can proudly say that a Pakistan based author has written a complete book on the subject of Obstetrics. No need at all to go through western books, that do not meet the criteria here in Pakistan.
A good guideline in daily clinical practice.
Easy to understand. Very good for exam preparation. Every topic is covered beautifully for both under graduate and post graduate exams.
"Labour" is a very conceptional topic and the way with which the topic is written and illustrated with diagrams is just perfect. Now being a PGR, i still always start my topic first with this book before going for any other book.
I can undoubtedly ay that itis one of my favorite books, concise yet comprehensive and addressing all those disorders which are prevalent in Pakistan. Opposite to all other books for Obs which address the diseases / disorders prevalent in western countries. Name of the book is self explanatory, dealing with the fundamentals of Obstetrics in such a way, which is easy to understand for all, may it be a house surgeon or a post graduate student. Commendable work, I must say.
Nothing in Obstetrics is beyond the limit of this book. I am lucky to have this book in my M.B;B.S as I am its beneficiary in FCPS too.
